Senjokai Karate Athletes Celebrate European Success in Copenhagen
Karate students from Ayrshire’s Senjokai Karate Academy returned last week with 23 medals from the 6th JKS Continental Cup in Copenhagen, Denmark — helping Scotland top the European medal table.
With more than 1,200 entries from 17 countries, the championship was one of the toughest events on the European karate calendar. Representing JKS Scotland, a strong Senjokai squad delivered outstanding results across kata, kumite, and team events.

Pride in Performance
Chief Instructor Liam Gallagher (6th Dan JKS) praised both the Scottish team and his Senjokai students:
“I couldn’t be prouder of the Scotland team as a whole — every dojo and every athlete gave everything to make this a weekend to remember. For Senjokai, it was inspiring to see our students step up on the European stage and show what Ayrshire karate is all about.
The medals are fantastic, but what means even more is the way our athletes carried themselves — with respect, discipline, and team spirit. They represented not just Senjokai, but Scotland, with pride.”
Karate in Ayrshire – The Senjokai Way
With dojos across Stewarton, Ayr, Troon, and Cumnock, Senjokai Karate Academy is committed to developing athletes of all ages — from beginners in karate for kids to elite competitors on the international stage.
As the academy looks ahead to its 15th anniversary in 2026, the European success in Denmark stands as a proud milestone for both the club and the wider Scottish karate community.
